Kehlani Slams ‘Monstrous Allegations’ Over Relationship With Daughter
Kehlani is speaking out about what they say are “doctored” screenshots and “absolutely monstrous allegations” involving their daughter.
In an extended statement shared to their Instagram on Wednesday, the 2025 Grammy nominee, who earlier this year shut down “inaccurate” reports purporting a cult allegation was key in a custody battle with ex Javaughn Young-White, told fans the latest controversy stems from what was merely “a lighthearted conversation” over a recent past life reading. They elaborated further, pointing out that they often get “little readings here and there,” this time opting to offer a “lighthearted recap with my child’s father.”
According to Kehlani, screenshots from that conversation were later edited to make it “seem like I consider myself to be in an inappropriate relationship with my daughter.” The Crash artist called this development “the most heartbreaking thing,” underscoring their preference of responding to prior issues in a formal court setting instead of in the eyes of the public.
“But this is where I absolutely draw the line,” Kehlani told fans on IG. “I do not, and have never, considered myself in any sort of inappropriate relationship with my child.”
Per Kehlani, they will address “the rest of these absolutely monstrous allegations” in court.
They also shared screenshots of the conversation in question, as well as addressed the controversy in their IG Stories, urging the world to “leave my daughter out of your mouths.”
As mentioned in Kehlani’s IG updates, they had planned to be in a more celebratory frame of mind in recent days after the aforementioned Crash scored a nomination in the Best Progressive R&B Album category at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards. The album was nominated alongside full-lengths from AverySunshine, Durand Bernarr, Childish Gambino, and NxWorries. Kehlani also bagged nods for Best R&B Song for “After Hours” and Best Melodic Rap Performance for their feature on Jordan Adetunji’s “Kehlani.”
Next month, Kehlani has two dates on the books in Florida, including Dec. 6 in Miami. Earlier this month, they informed fans they were “ready to start the next album,” which will mark the singer’s fifth.
