Juvenile Responds to Lil Wayne Not Being Chosen to Perform at Super Bowl Halftime Show: ‘My Hatred Is Toward the NFL’
Juvenile is the latest to speak out regarding Lil Wayne not performing at the upcoming Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans, with the honor instead going to Kendrick Lamar.
On Monday, the 49-year-old rapper took to social media to share his perspective on the situation, expressing disappointment, not with any individual, but with the NFL as a whole. He offered a unique viewpoint, stating that his frustration is directed more towards the league officials who hired the organizers of the halftime show.
“So, everybody want me to speak on this Super Bowl situation,” he began. “Look, I’m mad about the situation just like y’all man. But look, my hatred is toward the NFL. Not really the people who booked the halftime show. I’m mad at the people who hired the motherfuckers who booked the halftime show. I feel like y’all should step in. Ya’ll booked 11 Super Bowls in New Orleans. Y’all have yet to put a hip-hop act from New Orleans on the dam Super Bowl.”
He added, “I feel like every time y’all come here y’all should put somebody from our city on the shit.” Juvenile went on to explain that while this issue isn’t something new that “this time it hit hard when you don’t have Lil Wayne on the show.”
“How the fuck y’all don’t have Lil Wayne doing the halftime show?” the veteran artist questioned. Juvenile also said that Wayne has a ton of hits and has more than earned the opportunity to perform during the halftime show.
Juvenile then called out NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, saying that he “needs to get it right.” The rapper concluded his video by describing Lil Wayne as “somebody that really deserves it” and “somebody who can bring out multiple artists from all genres.”
Many believe Lil Wayne should have been selected to headline Super Bowl LIX since it’s taking place in New Orleans. Earlier this week, Birdman took to X to seemingly share his disappointment that Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake are not playing the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans next February.
In addition to Baby, several other members of the hip-hop community—including Cam’ron, Master P, and Funkmaster Flex—have voiced their opinions following the announcement that Kendrick will be the Super Bowl halftime headliner.
