Inside Pran’s Creative Process: How a Sheffield Student Crafted “All I Need Is Love”
For Thai singer-songwriter and producer Pran, creating music is a deeply personal and self-guided journey. Born Jessada Malakul in Bangkok and currently studying in Sheffield, UK, Pran’s debut single “All I Need Is Love” is the culmination of years honing his skills as a one-man creative force.
The song’s inception was unassuming: a beat inspired by a Spotify chart-topper, built entirely on an iPad. From there, Pran layered melodies and lyrics that reflect two sides of his own emotional experience—first, seeking love externally and feeling empty, then realizing self-love is the key to healing. This conceptual duality is mirrored in the song’s structure and the striking visuals of its music video.
Mixing and mastering by Grammy-nominated professionals Brent Kolatalo and Elliot James Mulhern elevated the track from a bedroom demo to a radio-ready single. Pran likens their influence to turning a “Lego house” into a full home, highlighting how collaboration brought new depth and polish without sacrificing his original vision.
Drawing inspiration from artists like The Weeknd’s melodic synthesis and Lisa’s global ambition, Pran remains committed to authenticity and experimentation. He credits his early GarageBand sessions with teaching him the importance of fun and passion in music-making—a philosophy that shines through in “All I Need Is Love.”
With his debut album slated for 2026, Pran is not only sharing his story but setting the stage for a new wave of cross-cultural pop artists emerging from Southeast Asia and beyond.
