Hong Kong Boyfriend delivers with summer new single and video, “Sharlene”

Hong Kong Boyfriend has everything it takes to be in your daily summer rotation. The California R&B singer is breaking onto the scene with no skips. For his third major release, Hong Kong Boyfriend is back with a summery love song, “Sharlene”. Along with the track is a fun music video, directed by Aamir Khuller.

“Sharlene” features a strumming guitar, smooth vocals, and a catchy hook. Lyrically, HKBF touches on a girl and his feelings for her. He reminisces about their time together, with themes of love infused in the lyrics. Production-wise, the track is centered around a strumming and echoey guitar. Most of the instrumentation on the track is stripped back, allowing for HKBF’s flows and lyrics to do the heavy lifting. Altogether, the track is a complete summer vibe, ready to be played with the windows down.

The accompanying music video takes the song in a bit of a different direction. For most of the scenes, we see HKBF hanging with his crew. The group dynamics here carry the themes of love and relationships further than romantic ones, but for people, you are close to in general. Throughout the video, the crew is seen laughing and having a good time. It’s a great feel and compliments the track perfectly.
