Frank Ocean Attends UFC 311 to Support Payton Talbott
Frank Ocean made a rare public appearance on Saturday night to support UFC fighter Payton Talbott at UFC 311.
The singer was spotted in the front row watching his friend fight close-up to send him all the support he needed to notch a win.
Sadly, Payton didn’t win. He lost for the first time in his professional career to Raoni Barcelos, surprising fans everywhere. With scores of 30-27, 30-27, and 30-26 over three rounds, Talbott’s L came via unanimous decision from judges.
Ahead of the match, Frank shared a post wishing good luck to Talbott, writing, “Gotta cook tonight P,” along with a picture of himself and the fighter in a kitchen.
Aside from popping out at UFC 311, Frank has been pretty quiet lately. Last year, Pharrell Williams suggested that it could be because he’s in the process of making new music.
Speaking to Apple’s Zane Lowe about his LEGO documentary Piece By Piece, Williams speculated about what Frank’s up to when their conversation shifted to the singer.
“You know he’s cooking,” Pharrell said at the time. “Frank stays in the kitchen. And that’s probably the reason why he doesn’t serve as much. He really enjoys the culinary process.”
At last year’s Coachella, Tyler, the Creator performed his 2011 collab with Frank, “She,” without him there. While performing it, Tyler told the audience that he has no clue where his fellow musician is.
“Y’all know this song?” Tyler said as “She” begin playing in the background. “Oh, sing the song, ’cause this n***a not coming out. We don’t know where that n***a is, so … It’s on y’all. You know it?”
