Flavor Flav Defends Selena Gomez After Tearful Reaction to Mass Deportations

Flavor Flav is showing his support for Selena Gomez.

The Public Enemy rapper hopped on X on Monday night, writing, “Team Selena Gomez. Again. That woman is always so brave to share her truth, and so many are quick to bully her.”

Flav’s comments arrive after Gomez tearfully reacted to Donald Trump’s mass deportations of undocumented immigrants—specifically Mexicans—over the weekend. The singer took to her Instagram Story, posting a later-deleted clip of her crying as she lamented the situation.

“I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked,” Gomez said while sobbing. “The children, I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”

Gomez—who is half-Mexican—also captioned the video with, “I’m sorry,” alongside the Mexico flag.

In a follow-up Instagram Story post, which Selena also later deleted, she wrote, “Apparently, it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” suggesting that people were offended by her heartfelt response.

One of those critical responses came from Sam Parker, a 2018 Republican Senate candidate from Utah, who tweeted, “Deport Selena Gomez.” The Emilia Pérez actress slammed Parker, responding on her IG Story, “Oh, Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”

Since returning to the White House, the Trump Administration has made sweeping arrests of undocumented immigrants to be deported. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended over 2,300 people from last Thursday to Sunday in Chicago, Newark, and Miami. Trump also overturned a policy that prohibited ICE from making arrests in schools, churches, and hospitals.
