East Oakland artist Laney Keyz drops new single “Famous”

Laney Keyz is a 23 y/o rapper from East Oakland who named himself after Laney College, symbolizing triumph over street life. He’s only released a handful of loosies which you can check out here but with his fast, catchy, and melodic rapping style, he’s got a lot of promise. Although he’s lived a life full of hardships and mistakes in Oakland, he strives for more, and his music reflects that. 

Today, he released “Famous,” produced by Apollocozy, a song that reveals his origin story – he documents his fears, his loyalties, his imperfections, how high the stakes are, his days spent at Santa Rita, and how he’d love to go back home to Oakland but knows he’s better off if he stays in his new home of LA. He cares less about being famous than he does making it out of the hood.
