Drake Touts the Joys of Sipping Nestea From a Glass Bottle Amid UMG Lawsuit

Amid ongoing discussions surrounding his recent move to sue Universal Music Group for defamation, Drake has turned his attention, at least for a moment, to cherished memories of a certain ice-cold beverage.

In a pair of Instagram Stories updates Wednesday morning, Drake reminisced on the joys of sipping Nestea, complete with visual references for those who may be unfamiliar with the pastime. More specifically, he touted the superiority of the glass bottle experience, seemingly lamenting the plastic alternative.

“Glass bottle Nestea was a different feeling,” Drake wrote.

Later, he added, “This shit would sweat wanting on ya in the fridge.”

Complex has reached out to various Nestea reps for comment. Yes, really. This story may be updated.

It’s unclear if Drake was referencing this, but it’s still worth noting: Earlier this month, Keurig Dr Pepper Canada responded to concerns from distraught Nestea enthusiasts regarding the beverage’s future, confirming that the iced tea “isn’t going anywhere” despite speculation suggesting otherwise. Instead, fans may not see it on select shelves during a transition process brought on by a change of hands on the distribution front, though any such issues are expected to be resolved by this summer.

Tea, more generally, was placed at the center of a purported DM screenshot non-controversy of the 6 God variety last year, resulting in a shouldn’t-be-news-at-all wave of coverage built atop an innocuous claim that’s impossible to prove. Still, that didn’t stop a different brand of iced tea from stepping into the shitstorm.

Some Drake fans, meanwhile, have interpreted the early morning Nestea nostalgia as some sort of a hint regarding the status of his and PND’s upcoming album. A release date for the project hasn’t been announced. However, it’s expected to arrive before the return of warmer weather, meaning, presumably, its release is still imminent, though there has been speculation regarding whether Drake v. UMG could hinder this.
