Doja Cat Squashes Beef With Fan Who She Said ‘Manhandled’ Her
Doja Cat is turning a new leaf with the fan she once claimed “manhandled” her.
The rapper and influencer Pablo Tamayo reconciled nearly two months after their first tense meeting with a reunion at Outside Lands music festival in Oakland, California where she personally invited him as a VIP.
As seen in TikTok videos Tamayo posted, he shared his journey traveling from Los Angeles to San Francisco and being escorted to the stage during Doja’s headlining set.
“Doja Cat invited me to @Outside Lands to squash the beef😭 omg my first time flying first class LOL,” he captioned the post.
“How do I smell?” Tamayo asked in a separate video, to which Doja replies, “You smell amazing.”
“I now know your name is Ami. I should’ve known,” he said, referring to her real name, Amala Dlamini.
“That’s fine, and you did not need to know,” Doja concluded.
Their reunion is a complete 180 from their first encounter in June, when Tamayo gave the Scarlet rapper a hug, kissed her on the cheek, and gave her the shirt off his back despite saying he didn’t know her name.
Doja later criticized him in since-deleted posts on X, writing, “bottom line is i’ll smile at you but it doesn’t mean I fuck w you and don’t touch me and man handle me when you don’t even fuckin know me. iykyk. i honestly think I need to stand up for myself in the moment sometimes. and he didn’t even know my fuckin name to be touching me and kissing me on my face like that is crazy.”
She also wrote, “I threw that musty ass shirt away btw.”
After the incident went viral, Tamayo shared a TikTok saying Doja’s post “hurts” and explained that while he “never claimed the biggest fan,” he thought her work was “amazing.” He recalled that Doja had pointed out his shirt at an event and liked it, leading him to invite the rapper to be the face of his brand’s Pride collection.
“I said, ‘Oh, I released this t-shirt, I’d love to give you one,” he recounted at the time. “She said, ‘I want one right now,’ and I said, ‘Oh, I can give this one to you.'”
He also took “full accountability” if he had been “too nice” during their first interaction, adding, “I’m gay, I would never want to make her feel uncomfortable. She’s so iconic!”
In their backstage reunion, Tamayo asked Doja if she really threw it away. Doja replied, “I don’t know” before walking away.
Doja says her upcoming album Vie has been completed though no release date has been announced.
