Diane Warren Calls Herself ‘Consistent as F*ck’ After 16th Oscars Loss

Diane Warren has officially been on a record run of most losses in the Academy Awards’ Best Original Song category.

On Sunday (March 2), Warren’s “The Journey,” sung by H.E.R. for the Tyler Perry-directed The Six Triple Eight lost to “El Mal” from crime comedy drama Emilia Pérez. One of the songwriters, Camille Dalmais, even broke out into song after accepting the Oscar.

The defeat makes this the whopping sixteent times that Warren has lost in the category, which the legendary songwriter discussed with Variety at the Vanity Fair Oscars Afterparty.

“I’m consistent as fuck,” Warren told reporter Marc Malkin. “You know, it is what it is. I’m happy to be here.”

She continued, “I’m the Terminator of the Oscars — I’ll be back. That’s in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice. I’m coming back. You can’t get rid of me.”

The 68-year-old, who had ‘Make it fucking happen’ emblazoned beneath her blazer collar added that the loss wouldn’t “slow” her down. “I thought I had a chance this time. It didn’t go that way, but I’m still here.”

Some on social media praised the snub, citing Warren’s alleged comments about Beyoncé having 24 songwriters on “Alien Superstar” from Renaissance.

In 2022, Warren received the 2022 Academy Honorary Award, presented to entertainers who’ve made extraordinary contributions in film.

Ahead of the ceremony, Warren told TMZ that she planned to “collapse” if named as Best Original Song winner.

As for the person who holds the most nominations without a win, sound mixer Greg P. Russell holds the record with 17 nominations.
