Danny Brown Jokes About Obama Having 2Pac and K-Ci & JoJo Song on His 2024 Summer Playlist

Barack Obama had genre-spanning selections on his new summer playlist, but rapper and podcaster Danny Brown can’t stop laughing at his 2Pac song choice.

On the latest edition of Obama’s summer playlist, the former U.S. president picked songs from the likes of Tems (“Love Me Jeje”), Saweetie (“My Best”) Moneybagg Yo featuring Morgan Wallen (“Whiskey Whiskey”), and more. But it was one 1990s rap hit that had Brown stumped: the 2Pac and K-Ci & JoJo collaboration “How Do U Want It.”

“[Imagining] Obama singing the how do you want it hook got me dying right now,” the Detroit native wrote on X.

While the Scaring the Hoes artist hasn’t yet been chosen for a spot on Obama’s summertime tunes, he’s shared his opinion on the politician around the time of the 2012 U.S. Election, although he couldn’t vote.

But as stated in Obama’s interview with comedian Hasan Minhaj last June, his yearly lists of song, book and film favorites genuinely come from him.

“I do! Listen, I am so glad that I had this opportunity,” Obama told Minhaj regarding if he actually listens to the songs included on his summer playlists. “People, they believe the books and the movies. But the playlists, they somehow think—and this is mostly coming from young people like you—somehow y’all think you invented rock ’n’ roll, you invented hip-hop. And so the fact that my lists are, you know, pretty incredible, people seem to think, ‘Well, he must have had some 20-year-old intern who was figuring out this latest cut.’ No, man. It’s on my iPad right now.”
