Tuesday evening (April 23) quickly turned into a chaotic scene for Bun Band his family. The 46-year-old shot an intruder at his Houston home during an attempted robbery around 5:45 p.m., according to Houston’s ABC 13.
When Bun B's wife, Angela "Queenie" Walls, answered the door, she suspected it was a delivery of some kind. An armed male wearing a mask was reportedly on the other side, who demanded she turn over her valuables. Queenie then offered the Audi sitting in their garage.
The Trill OG rapper heard what was happening from upstairs and sprang into action. ABC 13 says a shootout then ensued between the pair, as the intruder was attempting to break into their Audi vehicle. Once the robber was hit, he dropped his gun and fled the scene on foot.
“Her fear was that this was someone trying to target her husband, so she gave him the car keys and all the possessions she had," Bun B's attorney Charles Adams told KHOU. Houston police have since arrested the intruder, Demonte Jackson, who checked himself into a local hospital to have his gunshot wound treated.
TMZ reports that Jackson is being charged with two felony counts of aggravated robbery with a weapon and one felony count for burglary. Both Bun B and his wife escaped the scare unharmed.
Statik Selektah took to Twitter on Wednesday (April 24) to let everyone know his TrillStatik collaborator and his family are doing okay. "Why level headed people in this country SHOULD have the right to own a gun, defined ... so happy my bro @BunBTrillOG family is safe. #trillstatik for real," he wrote.
Billboard has reached out to Bun B's reps for comment.
