Each week, Billboard Dance looks at songs & albums rising on Billboard’s dance charts.
PNAU, “Go Bang”
Los Angeles-based PNAU enters Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart (dated Feb. 10) at No. 39 with “Go Bang.” It's the first solo chart appearance for the trio, which hails from Sydney, Australia. Previously, PNAU (Peter Mayes, Nick Littlemore, Empire the Sun, and Sam Littlemore) paraded to No. 16 in 2014 with “Changes” (credited as Faul & Wad Ad vs. PNAU). “Go” got to No. 10 last week on Australia Digital Song Sales, becoming PNAU's second solo top 10 on that list, following “Chameleon” (No. 4) a year ago. In 2012, teaming with Elton John, the act hit No. 30 on Dance Club Songs with “Good Morning to the Night.” “Go” largely owes its Dance/Mix Show Airplay debut to core-dance affiliates SiriusXM's BPM, KNHC (C89.5) Seattle and Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel.
Zack Martino, “Hold On to Me”
New York native Zack Martino debuts on Dance/Mix Show Airplay at No. 31 with “Hold On to Me.” It's the first Billboard chart appearance for the DJ/producer, who recently remixed the Borgeous & Taylr Renee track “Sweeter Without You” (which hit its No. 21 peak a week ago). “Hold” takes the bulk its radio play from three full-time dance stations: SiriusXM's BPM, Music Choice's Dance/EDM channel and iHeartRadio’s Evolution network (as monitored on WFLZ-HD Tampa, Florida).
Virtual Riot, German Engineering
German DJ/producer Virtual Riot (the moniker for Valentin Brunn) opens on Dance/Electronic Album Sales at No. 11 with its German Engineering EP. It's the dubstep act's second chart appearance and marks its highest Billboard position yet; its Chemistry EP debuted and peaked at No. 20 in May 2016.
