Bill Murray Says Kelis Relationship Speculation ‘Raised My Cred,’ Denies They Dated

Bill Murray and Kelis never dated, but according to him, the mere speculation helped raise his “cred.”

“I got a great press that I was dating her, which really raised my cred a lot,” the Ghostbusters star said during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning. “That particular song, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, that song just kills me I love that video. I watched, I kept going, ‘That’s the silliest thing. How did I miss that when it came out in the first place?'”

Of course, the song that Murray referred to was ODB and Kelis’ 1999 collaboration “Got Your Money.” “It’s so crazy, and I’m going, ‘Who is the girl with the red hair’?” Murray continued. “I just had to meet her sometime. So she turns out to be spectacular.”

Murray also shared that he had recently spoken to Kelis, who purchased land in Kenya. “She is not afraid of the dark. She just goes out there and goes, ‘Well, I think I’ll just go to Africa and start a farm,'” he said.

While Murray denied dating Kelis, he joked that, “One of us could be on the rebound any second,” adding that she “might need a plow man

Speculation surrounding Murray and Kelis began in 2023, when they were spotted in London together.

Kelis, meanwhile, caught Murray’s attention in the same fashion that she did her first husband, Nas, who saw her in the music video for “Caught Out There” before meeting her in 2002. The former couple would marry in 2005 before divorcing five years later. They share a 16-year-old son together.

Kelis’ second husband, Mike Mora, died in 2022 at 37 years old from stomach cancer. The couple share two children, Shepherd and Galilee.

The twice-divorced Murray has six adult children.
