BigXthaPlug Arrested on Drug and Gun Charges on Night of His Album Release

On the eve of the debut for his new album, I Hope You’re Happy, 26-year-old rapper BigXthaPlug was arrested for marijuana possession and unlawful firearm possession in Dallas, according to arrest records viewed by Complex.

As first reported by Fox4, BigXthaPlug (legal name Xavier Landum) was pulled over by authorities on Thursday (Aug. 21) for “not having a license plate.”

When police asked if he had any firearms, BigX informed them that there was one in the car. Officers searched the vehicle and discovered two firearms and fewer than 2 ounces of marijuana.

The rapper was hit with charges for possession of marijuana (less than 2 ounces) and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The arrest took place the day before the arrival of BigX’s album, which features collaborations with Jelly Roll, Shaboozey, and Luke Combs. BigX was scheduled to attend the album release party for the record on Thursday at the Cash Cow bar.

It’s the artist’s second arrest in Texas this year.

In February, he was pulled over for driving a vehicle with an expired registration. Officers alleged that they smelled marijuana coming from his car, and when they searched him, they discovered fewer than two ounces of marijuana.

BigX was arrested at the time alongside someone who was riding passenger, Cleodist Landum, who was taken in on an active felony warrant.

It’s been a huge year for BigXthaPlug, who recently landed on Complex’s list of the 15 best country and rap collaborations of all time, and his arrest couldn’t come at a less opportune time.

The southern rapper has been teasing I Hope You’re Happy throughout the year, with a number of country-inspired tracks that show the versatility of the rising star.
