Azealia Banks Reacts to TDE’s Punch Defending Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Performance
Azealia Banks went off on TDE’s president Punch and Kendrick Lamar on X in a scathing rant earlier this week.
It started when Punch posted a message about the ongoing discourse surrounding Lamar’s epic halftime show at Super Bowl LIX. ”Seeing all of the commentary surrounding the Super Bowl performance it’s showing that we lost sight of what we always fought for… to be who WE ARE as artist of Hip-Hop culture,” Punch wrote on Wednesday. “Since when did we want to fit in with the mainstream?? lol. Sure we want mainstream platforms, but only to do US. Authentically us. That’s what always made Hip-Hop so appealing.”
As Banks usually does, she came out of the blue to offer her opinion about the show — which then turned into her opinion about Lamar. “You guys are actually super pathetic,” Banks wrote. “And quite possibly the most HERB music collective hip-hop has seen. You guys are all super uncharismatic misfits. Regardless of how good you guys are at choosing cows at the Industry songwriting cattle corral.”
Punch shared Banks’ post on his Instagram account and responded to her on X with a winking emoji. Banks didn’t like that. “Now I understand why amber heard shit in the bed,” she wrote in response. “Like the hatred you could have for someone winking it’s like sexual assault.”
With her batteries charged up, Banks went on the offensive. “Punch is so ugly and annoying,” she wrote. “Corny LA niggas who read self help books and have buddhas and jo Malone candles everywhere like fake Russell simmons uppity la shit.”
She continued: “He looks like a fucking tiddy. Him and the dream have that fucking punchable puckering breastfeeder face — like a tiddy sucking itself.”
After giving her thoughts on “Not Like Us,” Banks then made her case for why she thinks Drake is more iconic than Lamar.
“I’m 130% positive Drake has a bigger dick in his pants than Kendrick,” she ranted. “Kendrick has no dick print, he has nothing women want. And since he has no bitches, there are no men who want to be him. It really boils down THAT simply. I don’t make the rules.”
“There’s nothing even remotely appetizing about rolling over in the middle of the night and seeing your little brother’s hairless bird chest and his little braids on the pillow,” she continued. “Yall are trying too hard to sell Kendrick but he doesn’t work as far as the human commodity part.”
After journalist Elliott Wilson posted a picture of Lamar at the Super Bowl with the caption “It’s not enough. Dot era.,” Banks even threw a stray his way too.
“The reason why this is just not believable is because there is absolutely nothing aspirational about being a short, dark-skinned, nappy headed asthmatic dude from Compton California,” she wrote. “To be a star, men have to want to be you and women have to want to fuck you. Kendrick has neither going on for him. Men want to BE drake and women want to fuck him. That is why he is a STAR.”
“But ur ugly and light skinned I’m sure the cognitive dissonance is fucking your head especially now that you’re old ugly and light-skinned,” she added.
