ASAP Rocky Dedicates Rolling Loud Set to Immigrants and Los Angeles Fire Victims
ASAP Rocky, who’s never been big on public statements about what’s going on in the world, dedicated his Rolling Loud set in Los Angeles to immigrants and to victims of the city’s devastating fires.
The rapper stopped his show to announce the dedication after seeing the diverse crowd who were tuned into his performance. “I see unity. I see so many types of people. I see so many different colors,” Rocky said.
“I would like to dedicate this show to anybody that was affected by those fires,” he continued. “To anybody that was affected by the immigration laws. My heart goes out to you.”
In 2015, Rocky said in an interview that he didn’t “sign up to be no political activist,” but a decade later at Rolling Loud, it seems like he’s now more open to commenting on the state of the world.
“We all one people. Shit got me feeling fucked up, but I’m happy to be here and all that,” said Rocky. “Thank you to everybody that prayed for me and my family, and all that. I appreciate y’all.”
Rocky’s Rolling Loud set was filled with surprises. After an intro video covering what he went through during his trial, Rocky descended to the stage from a helicopter.
He performed a few new songs. In one of them, he threw a subtle message at some with the line, “N***as do the most when they irrelevant, claiming ASAP, but we were never friends.”
In another track, Rocky hilariously referenced his sex life with Rihanna, who was in the crowd watching him perform. “Me and my bae ain’t have no fucking problems come between us, me and my baby mom ain’t letting no condoms come between us,” he rapped.
Rocky also performed the track “Your Honor” about his trial for gun assault charges, of which he was found not guilty. A snippet of the track, produced by Metro Boomin, originally hit the internet late last month.
