ASAP Rocky and J. Cole Connect on The Alchemist-Produced “Ruby Rosary”
ASAP Rocky is giving them a little something to hold them over.
After announcing the delay of his fourth studio album, the Harlem rapper gifted fans with his “Ruby Rosary” track with J. Cole. The song, produced by Alchemist, marks the first official collaboration between the rappers, who previously appeared on Justin Timberlake’s 2013 “TKO” remix.
Fans have been waiting on a Rocky x Cole team-up since back in July, when DJ Kast One revealed he had the former’s long-awaited Don’t Be Dumb album, which featured the Dreamville MC.
“I heard J. Cole,” he told Ebro in the Morning before sharing a few more details. “I heard songs being played. I heard Slick Rick. That was amazing. I also heard ASAP Rocky definitely addressing a lot of the main topics that are happening out here right now. Let’s just say, the list keeps going on strong.”
You can stream “Ruby Rosary” now on Apple Music and Spotify. The track is expected to land on Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb project, which was originally set to arrive in late August. The rapper decided to push the release into the fall, citing unauthorized drops and clearance issues.
“LEAKS & SAMPLE CLEARANCES ARE DISRUPTING THE ALBUM,” he wrote on on X last month. “ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT.”
Rocky told Billboard that the upcoming project will include appearances by Tyler, the Creator and Morrissey as well as super producers Pharrell, Mike Dean, Metro Boomin, and more.
“I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was f—ing with it heavy,” Rock revealed to the outlet. “He’s like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’”
