Coco Gauff Quotes Tyler, the Creator In French Open Acceptance Speech

Coco Gauff has given Tyler, the Creator a surprise shoutout while accepting her 2025 French Open win.

The tennis star has clearly kept Tyler’s latest album, Chromakopia, on repeat, because on Saturday (June 7), she quoted the track “St. Chroma” while receiving the Court Philippe-Chatrier after defeating Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka.

“I didn’t think honestly that I could do it,” Gauff said around the 12-minute mark of the video below. “But I’m gonna quote Tyler, the Creator right here. He said, ‘If I ever told you I had a doubt inside me, I must be lying.'”

“I’d like to leave that with you guys. I think I was lying to myself and I definitely could do it. Shout out to Tyler,” she continued.

The athlete might be returning the favor after the two-time Grammy winner name-dropped her on “Thought I Was Dead,” where he raps: “I was one mil’, then a n***a hit 30/ Bitch, you ain’t Coco Gauff, you can’t serve me.

Before hearing Tyler’s new LP, it was Gauff’s boyfriend who guessed that the rapper would reference her. “It was crazy because he DM’d me congratulations over China Open,” Gauff told reporters at the WTA Finals last November. “We never talked or anything before. He liked my photo or something when I won US Open.”

She continued: “Then my boyfriend is like, ‘Watch, he’s going to drop you in a song.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, that would be insane. That’s never going to happen.’ Three weeks later it happened. I was like, ‘Can he see into the future or what?'”
