Kid Cudi to Direct and Star in Feature Film ‘When The Light Dies’
Kid Cudi has announced he will be directing and starring in his very own feature film.
On Saturday, Cudi shared a tweet announcing his upcoming role as director and actor for an upcoming feature film titled When The Light Dies. According to Cudi, When The Light Dies is a horror-romance film, and he’s planning to give fans an inside look at the film’s process through social media.
“Ive been wanting to direct movies ever since I was a kid, and im finally stepping into this new chapter,” Cudi tweeted. “Imgoin to make a page on IG thats dedicated to bringing u in on the journey. Ive been doing test shoots, trying diff lighting techniques and trying diff lenses, and I wanna give u guys access to my mind. Who’s joining the journey?”
Even though he’s getting his feet wet in directing, Cudi has been expanding on his acting résumé since the early 2010s, starring in shows and films such as One Tree Hill, How to Make it in America, Need for Speed, Entourage, X, and more. In 2020, Cudi launched his own production company titled Mad Solar, which produced various film projects such as Entergalactic and X’s prequel and sequel, Pearl and MaXXXine.
Cudi first mentioned making his directorial debut in 2022 when he revealed he’d be directing, writing, and starring in a Netflix film titled Teddy. The film was reportedly inspired by Cudi’s 2009 track “Pursuit of Happiness” with Jeymes Samuel and Jay-Z serving as producers. It’s unclear if this film is connected to Cudi’s upcoming project, When The Light Dies.
