Vince Staples Calls ‘1,000-LB Sisters’ ‘Real Cinema’
Vince Staples is such a huge fan of the TLC reality tv series 1,000-lb Sisters that he believes it’s real cinema.
During his visit to the The Young Man and the Three podcast, Staples revealed his deep love for the show that follows the everyday lives of sisters Amy Slaton-Halterman and Tammy Slaton and their attempts to lose weight naturally and through surgery. According to Staples, 1,000-lb Sisters is one of the best non-scripted reality series, and the sisters are true “stars” in terms of how real they deal with their weight struggles.
“Have you seen 1,000-lb Sisters? Let’s talk about real cinema,” said Staples. “Tammy is a little bit bigger than Amy, and then their brother Chris and they got their other sister. Fire. I’m talking about they stars, bro.”
He continued, “1,000-lb Sisters is the best weight loss show. It’s the best family show, and it’s the best non-scripted show. As far as entertainment value, it’s not even close ’cause it’s not salacious, they not making fun of each other, it’s not demeaning, and when they are demeaning each other, it’s like ‘Shut your fat ass up […] No you shut your fat ass up, bitch.'”
Staples’ admission that he’s a fan of the hit series followed him saying that television doesn’t exist. The rapper discussed how he only watches highlights instead of a full sporting event and that he doesn’t have any type of television in his home.
“I’ll see like five minutes of a game here, like three minutes here,” said Staples. “You gotta think, bro, TV don’t exist no more. So how are you watching these games? […] I’ve never watched anything on my phone. I wouldn’t watch a music video. I wouldn’t watch a video somebody sent me on my phone […] Bro I don’t have TV, and if you don’t have TV, there’s nothing on. I got ‘Hulu Has Live Sports’ that shit? There ain’t no live sports on Hulu, bro.”
Despite claiming TV doesn’t exist, Staples said he watches Family Feud every day and even catches Next Level Chef whenever it’s on.
