Chloe Bailey Denies Claim She’s Shooting Her Shot at Kendrick Lamar After Revealing Childhood Crush

Chloe Bailey is firing back at fans who think she’s trying to make a move on Kendrick Lamar, who’s currently engaged to longtime girlfriend Whitney Alford.

Earlier this week, Bailey went live on Instagram to chat with fans about Kendrick’s new album GNX, in which she asked who listened to it and said that she’s been playing it nonstop. She made it clear that she’s a fan of Lamar and didn’t just become one recently by sharing a story about how she went through a “phase” where she was really into the Compton rapper.

“Like, I’ve had phases, right? Like, I had a James Fauntleroy phase. I had a Frank Ocean phase. I had a [FKA] Twigs phase. I had a Tune-Yards phase. I had a Kendrick Lamar phase, and I was convinced I was going to be with him.”

Bailey added that her crush was innocent and that she respects Kendrick as an artist, but that didn’t stop people from claiming she was trying to make a move on K Dot. To clear the air, Bailey did another livestream where she defended herself and explained that she was sharing how she was a “die-hard” fan.

“I’m not shooting my shot at a married man,” she said. “I was talking about years and years ago. I was just sharing how I was a die-hard Kendrick fan, like from day one. Everybody just doesn’t like happiness. Everybody has to take everything so seriously. I would never. Honestly, I don’t let stuff like that get to me anymore, I think it’s funny now how people will take things out of context… I am innocent.”

GNX was released on Nov. 22 and features SZA, Roddy Ricch, AzChike, and several California-based artists across its 12 tracks.
