Joe Budden Claims Lil Wayne Tried Calling Kendrick Lamar But Never Heard Back

Joe Budden claims Lil Wayne went into the booth after Kendrick Lamar mentioned him on “wacced out murals.”

On the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast that was published on Patreon, the former rapper claimed he got word that Weezy hit up the studio after trying to get a temperature check from K Dot regarding the song. “I’m hearing Kendrick didn’t answer,” Budden says. “I’m hearing Wayne went in the booth.”

According to Budden, Wayne allegedly called Kendrick to chat about the record in which the latter said he let the NOLA rapper down by putting in “hard work.”

On “wacced out murals,” Kendrick raps, “Used to bump Tha Carter III / I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.”

“Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n****s agitated, I’m just glad they showin’ they faces / Quite frankly, plenty artists, but they outdated / Old-ass flows, tryna convince me that you they favorite,” he raps later in the song.

Instead of the two getting a chance to talk, Lamar allegedly missed Wayne’s call, which fueled him to head to the studio.

“If I’m calling you rapper to rapper and you don’t answer…shit, now I’m going in the booth. You have until I get in that booth to hit me back,” said Budden.

This bit of news comes after Wayne put out a tweet where he asked why he’s his name is being brought up when all he does is mind his own business and advised not to wake up the “giant.”

“Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head,” he wrote. “Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love.”

If Kendrick really didn’t answer Wayne’s call, it shouldn’t come as a surprise since the pgLang rapper has stated several times he’s not a big fan of phones. In his “Euphoria” diss track, Kendrick made it clear he doesn’t want to talk on the phone.

“It’s nothin’ nobody can tell me, huh / I don’t wanna talk on no celly, huh / You know I got language barriers, huh / It’s no accent you can sell me, huh,” raps Kendrick.
