Rihanna Poses at Bus Stop, References Kodak Black’s ‘I’m Waiting for the Bus’ Meme Freestyle
Rihanna clearly enjoyed Kodak Black’s recent freestyle on Kai Cenat’s stream.
In a post shared on Instagram, Rihanna posed in photos alongside Fenty Beauty adverts at a bus stop. “I’m just waiting for de bus,” she wrote alongside the post. She added audio of Kodak’s freestyle from his controversial appearance on Kai’s stream, in which the Florida rapper referenced an old-school YouTube video titled, Sex? … I’m Just Waiting For the Bus… (Haitian vs. Hooker).
The original meme that Kodak referenced was first uploaded to YouTube by rapper and content creator Wrekonize in 2007. The clip shows a man involved in an altercation with an alleged sex worker, who accosted a man who was waiting for the bus. “I told her, I don’t want sex, I’m just waiting for the bus!” he enthusiastically said in the clip, which also shows the two become involved in a physical altercation.
As Wrekonize shared in a new video on YouTube, the clip was recorded by a friend of his who just happened to see the incident when he was on the way to work on a video shoot. He got ahold of the footage, which was captured on Mini DV tape, and edited it to upload. In Kodak Black’s freestyle, he essentially quoted the video word for word, which was likely lost on Kai Cenat, who would have been six when the video was uploaded.
Rihanna, meanwhile, recently indicated that she might be done with music in order to focus on her Fenty brand, which just launched its Fenty Skin line of cosmetics. “I would say music was the thing that got the attention. But God had other plans for me and I was able to create in ways … that were very sincere and genuine or organic and authentic to the things that I love,” Rihanna told attendees at the launch party for Fenty Skin.
