This Is How Tyler, the Creator Wants You to Experience ‘Chromakopia’ for the First Time

Tyler, the Creator has issued very specific instructions for his fans’ first listen of Chromakopia.

“Make sure you listen in full with no expectations no distractions no checking text or social media letting others paint your thoughts on shit before you get a chance. Thank you,” he wrote on his Instagram story on Monday.

Chromakopia arrived on Monday, packed with features from A-listers, like Lil Wayne, Sexyy Red, GloRilla, Childish Gambino, Schoolboy Q, Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, and Doechii. The album also includes the previously released single “Noid,” which arrived with a music video that featured Ayo Edebiri as an obsessed fan.

Last week, Tyler also announced his upcoming Chromakopia: The World Tour with Lil Yachty and Paris Texas, which is set to kick off next February in St. Paul, Minnesota, and wrap on Sept. 4 in Perth, Australia.

Tyler eschewed industry standards by releasing his new project on a Monday, rather than a Friday, something he alluded to last year in a conversation with Nardwuar.

“I think we should put music out again on Tuesdays instead of Fridays, for some reasons,” Tyler told Nardwuar last November. “What do y’all think? My reasoning is, I know people think because of the weekend they can listen to stuff and the streams go up. And the streaming people are like, ‘Oh, the streams go up on the weekend!’ But I think it’s a lot of passive listening, at parties or people get the time to go to the gym, so they’re not really listening.”
