Lana Del Rey Addresses Surprise Marriage for the First Time: ‘We’re Happy’
Lana Del Rey publicly gushed about her surprise marriage for the first time after getting married last month.
In September, it was reported that the Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd artist married Louisiana alligator tour guide Jeffery Dufrene. Now, the 39-year-old is loving her life as a newlywed. While attending the InStyle Imagemaker Awards on Thursday (Oct. 24), a reporter asked Del Rey about married life. “It’s good,” Del Rey replied. “We’re happy.”
Although Del Rey kept her answer short, news about Del Rey and Dufrene’s wedding circulated in September when images showed the couple getting married near Dufrene’s swamp tour sight in Des Allemands, Louisiana. Officiating the wedding was Judah Smith, also known for being the pastor of Justin and Hailey Bieber, and whom Del Rey named her track “Judah Smith Interlude” after.
But while fans have been both supportive and taken aback by Del Rey’s marriage, the singer has publicly shamed a Louisiana couple for using drones and a tracker to follow and photograph her and Dufrene.
“But if Sara Michelle Champagne and Kruesch (a famous New Orleans paparazzi) could stop switching vehicles following the family, and stop following us around remote parts of the country and photo shopping my wedding ring into a pearl, I know we would feel a lot safer,” Del Rey wrote in the comments of an Instagram fan page earlier this month.
The couple was first spotted together backstage during Leeds Festival in the UK the month before, but after fans did some online digging, it was discovered that Rey and Dufrene had known each other for a few years. In a 2019 Facebook post, Rey shared a photoset of herself driving a boat alongside Dufrene and hanging out with friends, the caption reading, “Jeremy lemme be captain at Arthur’s Air Boat Tours.”
