Erica Mena Calls Out Safaree for Wanting Lower Child Support, Says He’s Only Seen Kids ‘16 Times’ This Year
Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels’ co-parenting woes have intensified.
The former couple, whose divorce was finalized in 2022 after less than two years of marriage, are parents to Safire Majesty, 4, and Legend Brian, 3.
According to court documents reviewed by In Touch Weekly, 43-year-old Samuels filed a petition in Georgia court last June to lower his child support payments to Mena, 36. In his petition, he explained that at the time of the divorce his child support payments were based on the $61,157 monthly income he was making when he was a full-time cast member of Love and Hip Hop Atlanta in addition to bookings and appearances.
Mena, who was fired from the reality series in 2023 for calling her co-star Spice a “monkey,” was reported to be making $41,289 per month in 2022.
“The Petitioner is no longer able to accept the same level of booking engagements to date,” the complaint reportedly read per In Touch, before Samuels apparently blamed Mena’s “extensive public disparagement campaign” for his “significant loss of income.”
Elsewhere in the petition, Safaree said Erica’s earnings had only increased since their divorce and demanded to lower his $4,305 monthly child support payments and for his ex-wife to handle his legal fees. The outlet reports that the case has not gained any traction since it was filed last June.
In response, Mena shared in a now-deleted Instagram post showing a calendar suggesting that Samuels had seen their kids only 16 times this year.
“Mom is yellow. “Dad” is orange. Imagine trying to detect CS from your BM (when that’s they get from you since he skips out on birthdays and Christmas by choice) and you only seen your kids 16 times this whole year so far,” Mena reportedly wrote in a post as reshared on social media.
“SMH but yet you act like you this big money man for the gram. And all you have to do is pick your kids up at school. You don’t EVER have to make contact with me. SMH I swear when I say these are my kids I say it with my chest for a MILLION reasons,” she added.
In March, Safaree claimed his page was “hacked” after tweeting that he wanted to attend ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s concert in disguise.
He recently made headlines for attending the 41-year-old’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour’s stop in Miami, Florida earlier this month, which he documented for his YouTube channel.
