Dr. Dre Accuses Former Marriage Counselor of Turning Son ‘Against Him’

Dr. Dre has his own claims against his former psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy, who filed a $10 million lawsuit against Dre this week.

TMZ reports that Dre’s lawyer, Howard King, alleged Sophy “slandered” Dre “in a malicious effort to convince his son to turn against him.” King said Sophy’s aim was to give the music mogul’s ex Nicole Young a leg up during their divorce.

Sophy’s attorney, Christopher Frost issued a response to the outlet. “All mental health professionals work with individuals and families at their most vulnerable and emotionally challenging times of their lives,” the statement said. “However, threatening and harassing someone as a means to express one’s emotions is an unacceptable behavior that the world at large cannot tolerate.”

“Unfortunately, Mr. Young’s recent conduct since the filing of the complaint only perpetuates his chosen consistent pattern of behavior. This dispute is about his consistent pattern of negative and abusive behavior and nothing else.”

On Thursday, news surfaced that Sophy has sued Dre for harassment. The psychiatrist is seeking $10 million in damages and is requesting that Dre is required to stay 100 yards away from him.

Sophy served as a marriage counselor for Dre and Nicole during their marriage and later as a mediator in their divorce. Sophy alleged in his lawsuit that Dre start sending him abusive text messages in February 2023, calling him a “bitch” and “piece of shit.” Dre also threatened Sophy, saying he would “make you pay for that.”
