Whoopi Goldberg Says ‘Getting Paid’ Still Excites Her the Most About Coming to Work

Whoopi Goldberg is known for always keeping it real, and the 68-year-old actress and cohost of The View admitted that what keeps her excited to work is the money she receives for doing it.

In a recent interview with ABC, Goldberg was asked what motivates her to keep working. She responded bluntly with, “Getting paid,” prompting laughter from the interviewer.

Goldberg then doubled down on her statement, saying “I do enjoy getting a paycheck. I’m not going to lie.”

Check out Goldberg’s quote below.

This past week, Goldberg’s realness has been the subject of intense coverage after she lashed out at Dancing With the Stars for casting convicted con artist Anna Delvey to compete. Goldberg suggested that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) implement a “two-tiered system” after Delvey was permitted to join season 33 of the famous show.

“I think back to all the families who’ve had family members arrested by ICE, who have gone to the courts to get their dad or their mother or their brother back,” said Goldberg. “And this woman, they gave her permission to go do this. Now, should I think there’s a reason. Is there a two-tiered system here with ICE?”

In a statement to Page Six, Delvey responded, saying, “While you are entitled to your own opinions, you should at least get your facts straight. I served my time and paid everyone back in full three-plus years ago. Looking forward to your on-air correction. Stay nasty ladies, but don’t forget to vote Sept. 17!”

A few months ago, Whoopi made it clear on-air that she prefers hookups to long term relationships at this point in life. “I am fundamentally a selfish person and I’ve found that because I have a wonderful kid, and a son-in-law, and three grandkids and one great-grand[kid], that I don’t have time for a whole lot of other people coming into my life,” she shared. “Hit-and-runs are great, I don’t mind those, but you can’t spend the night.”
