Denzel Curry Explains How Awkward Issa Rae Encounter Made Him Quit Watching ‘Insecure’

Denzel Curry has recalled the time an encounter with Issa Rae made him stop watching her hit TV show Insecure.

Earlier this week, Curry shared a post on X where he explained how that meeting led him to be anti-Insecure, thanks to Rae making what he felt was an unfavorable comparison. According to Curry, Rae compared his “Clout Cobain” video to something the Detroit rap duo Insane Clown Posse would’ve made.

“Met Issa Rae one time in 2018 she said she saw my video clout cobain then said it reminds [her] of insane clown posse,” he wrote. “I stopped watching insecure after that.”

Fans wasted no time sharing their amusement with the revelation by sharing several crying laughing emojis and others who voiced their pleasure with Curry’s story.

“oh hell no that’s like saying insecure reminds me of sex in the city,” one person tweeted. Rob Markman wrote, “Lmaoooooooo Appropriate response.”

Curry had on clown facepaint similar to what Insane Clown Posse and their fans wear today, so Rae wasn’t too far-fetched with her hot take on the rapper’s music video. Zev Deans directed the visual, becoming Curry’s most-watched video with over 110 million views.

Even though Insecure is over, Rae has more shows on the horizon with HBO. Earlier this year, Rae sat down for a cover story interview with Time, where she revealed that there are two projects in the works with the network and that she is building a studio campus in South Los Angeles.
