Latto Names Lil’ Kim the ‘GOAT Female Rapper’ for Her ‘Timeless’ Music and Fashion

She might be in her “Big Mama” era, but Latto recognized Lil’ Kim as the original “Big Momma” on Complex’s GOAT Talk.

During a conversation with her younger sister, Brooklyn Nikole, around the 2:30-minute mark of the video below, Latto picked up a prompt that read “GOAT Female Rapper.”

Brooklyn responded by declaring that it’s her sister, claiming she’s “not even being biased.”

“I listen to you the most,” she added, while Latto said she was “gonna give a real answer.”

“I mean, I am the GOAT though,” the Clayton county native expressed. “I’m my GOAT and that’s all that matters.”

But for the “official” GOAT title, Latto gave it to Lil’ Kim, who she called a “fashion icon,” producing both “timeless” music and fashion.

“[She’s] gon’ forever be a staple in, not only rap, but like, female rap,” the Sugar Honey Iced Tea rapper continued.

Latto also acknowledged Lil’ Kim as a “queen” for her personality off-camera.

“I love that bitch,” she said, before jokingly putting her hand over her mouth. “I love her, and she’s Big Momma, too. It’s a Big Momma thing.”

Latto’s answer may rattle the Barbz, since Latto was a longtime fan of Nicki Minaj before the two fell out in 2022. Their issues began around the time that Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girls” was being considered for Best Pop Solo Performance for the 2023 Grammys.

Because of this, the Queens native posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Latto’s “Big Energy” shouldn’t be considered for rap categories. The song would be nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance, while Latto was also nominated for Best New Artist. Minaj, who hasn’t yet received a Grammy win, received zero nominations that year.

The artists went back and forth overnight, with Latto also subbing Minaj on “Put It On Da Floor.” When asked about her “best” female rappers during an interview with radio personality Lore’l earlier this year, Latto named Lil’ Kim, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes and “shawty,” with some believing that she was referring to Minaj.
