NOLA Rapper Goes Viral for Bounce Flip of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror”

New Orleans rapper Heaven recruited the legendary King of Pop, or at least someone dressed like him, for a viral performance of her hit song “Mirror.”

Heaven showed out for a new From the Block performance, a hip-hop web series that previously featured the likes of Lola Brooke, J.P., and 4Batz. In the latest installment of From the Block, Heaven performed her bounce-influenced take on Jackson’s 1988 single “Man in the Mirror.” In the two-minute clip, a Jackson impersonator hilariously joined Heaven and danced along, while wearing the late singer’s signature jheri curi and silver aviator sunglasses.

Her single interpolates “Man in the Mirror,” with Heaven singing, “I’m talkin’ to the n***a that you fuckin’ (Oh yeah) / You keep asking him to change his ways (He ain’t gon’ do it for ya).”

Although her song dropped last year, “Mirror” was fresh to many on social media, with some shocked that Heaven sampled Jackson’s original song.

Speculation about whether the sample was cleared by Jackson’s estate circulated on X. However, the estate has been involved in numerous legal battles since the singer’s passing in June 2009. Most recently, a rare collection of Jackson’s drawings was set to be auctioned this month, but the estate has questioned the authenticity of the sketches.
