Adele Interrupts Germany Concert to Watch Sha’Carri Richardson Race at the Olympics

Sha’Carri Richardson can count on Adele for support, even in the middle of a concert.

The UK singer, 36, is taking the summer off from her Las Vegas residency at the Ceasar’s Palace and currently in Munich, Germany where she began a 10-show residency at the bespoke ADELE Arena on Friday.

With her signature British humor, Adele recalled on Friday’s opening night performance that she’s definitely caught herself critiquing the performance of Olympians knowing very well that she couldn’t perform that kind of athleticism herself.

“I was watching world class athletes being like, ‘Oh, that ending was a bit dodgy, wasn’t it? Her legs weren’t really straight,’’ she said. “Meanwhile if I tried anything that they do, I would be dead. I’d absolutely die if I tried to even do a little any kind of move at all.”

Adele continued, “But I thought it was amazing and, of course, the legendary Simone Biles won gold, she was absolutely brilliant.”

The 16-time Grammy Award winner said she thought Biles’ Netflix documentary, Simone Biles Rising, was “absolutely amazing,” and commended her for taking care of her mental health before expressing that she hopes Richardson takes gold at the final.

“I’m very excited about watching the 100 meters tomorrow,” she said. “I want Sha’Carri Richardson to win, fingers crossed. But whoever wins, that’s amazing.”
