Eminem Confronts Slim Shady About Gen Z Trying to Cancel Him in Surreal Conversation With His Alter Ego

In the teaser trailer for the new Complex-produced digital short The Face-Off, Eminem faces off against his own alter ego, Slim Shady.

Set to arrive on July 29, the short features Eminem in conversation with his infamous alter ego, whom he recently resurrected for his twelfth studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). “I’m back because you got your nuts tucked so tightly between your legs fucking Caitlyn Jenner would be jealous,” says Slim Shady in the trailer. “Yo, are you just, like, allergic to not being an asshole?” Em replies.

Em tears down the cartoonish alter ego, whom he compares to Cartman from South Park or Family Guy. “You can’t be canceled,” he continues. “Every other week on TikTok, Gen Z discovers you on Monday and cancels me on Tuesday.”

The subject of being “canceled” is a big one on The Death of Slim Shady, cropping up across multiple tracks. Gen Z is a big target for the rapper, with him suggesting the generation is “too sensitive.”

Back in 2021, there was a lot of commentary across social media that Gen Z was trying to “cancel” the hugely successful rapper, mostly for lyrics many have deemed misogynistic, fatphobic, or homophobic. There was one particular clip from TikTok @cassiebessette607, in which she responded to the calls to cancel him.
