Travis Scott Concert Causes False Earthquake Alarms in Italy Yet Again as 80,000 Fans Attend Circus Maximus Tour
During a tour stop in Rome last August, the jumping from Scott’s crowd of more than 60,000 fans caused an amount of seismic activity comparable to a 1.3-magnitude earthquake. The show took place at the Circus Maximus archaeological site.
Alfonsina Russo, an official at the Colosseum Archeological Park, expressed disappointment in comments to Italy’s AGI news service. “The Circus Maximus is a monument. It is not a stadium, not a concert hall. These mega rock concerts put it at risk, including the Palatine Hill nearby,” Russo said.
Trav’s tour continues its Europe leg this summer with stops in Germany, Spain, and Portugal through Aug. 4. The Circus Maximus trek will visit Latin American countries including Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia before hitting the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Sept. 21.
Scott will return stateside for a single show at East Rutherford, New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Oct. 9 before flying off to Oceania to perform in Australia and New Zealand through the end of October.
