Roddy Ricch Performs For NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series (Video)
Roddy Ricch took it home to LA for his rescheduled NPR Tiny Desk concert special. Originally booked for June, the Compton native finally performed a stripped-down set at West Coast Customs – with the musical backing of 1500 or Nothin. For his set, Roddy performed a medley of four hits off his debut, “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial.” A special appearance by Ty Dolla $ign was also thrown into the mix as Roddy sat by the keyboard.
“I’d like to welcome ya’ll to Tiny Desk aka Tiny Garage. I’m at West Coast Customs. This is a legendary spot,” he announced.
Kicking his set off on the piano, Roddy opened up with “Perfect Time,” which segued into “Bacc Seat.” He also performed “High Fashion” produce by Mustard,” and closed it out with “War Baby.” On his final song, he addresses the state of the world.
“It’s a lot going on in the world. A lot of times I stay off the internet, I don’t really like to be bothered. But this is a crazy time we’re living in. It’s a lot of negativity going on and on a positive note, I just want to appreciate my people for standing together in a time like this.”
