Rihanna will be honored by her hometown.
The Barbados Ministry Tourism has announced that the global superstar, born Robyn Fenty, will have a street named after her in the city that raised her, according to Nation News.
“The Government Barbados will on Independence Day, Thursday 30th November, 2017 ficially change the name Westbury New Road located in St. Michael to Rihanna Drive in honour Barbadian superstar Ms. Robyn Rihanna Fenty who grew up in Westbury New Road,” reads the statement from the Ministry Tourism.
RiRi is set to be on hand for the two-hour unveiling ceremony, according to the report. The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Barbados’ Independence Day, Nov. 30.
Rihanna has been an advocate for her hometown and home country throughout her career. She visits frequently and has ten participated in charitable efforts. The Humanitarian the Year has also welcomed many global stars to the island, including Prince Harry Wales and Oprah.
