Plus, Childish Gambino returns with two new songs.
Meek Mill collects his fifth top 10 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as Legends of the Summer opens at No. 8 on the list dated July 21. The four-song EP netted 27,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 12, according to Nielsen Music.
The rapper first reached the region with Dreams and Nightmares, which debuted at No. 1 and held the rank for one week in 2012. Since then, he’s also claimed top 10s with Dreams Worth More Than Money (No. 1, two weeks) in 2015, DC4 (No. 2) in 2016 and last year’s Wins and Losses (No. 2).
Summer prompts two debuts on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, “Millidelphia,” featuring Swizz Beatz (No. 40), and “Dangerous,” featuring Jeremih and PnB Rock (No. 44). The pair become the Philadelphia native’s 48th and 49th records to make the ranking.
Gambino Returns: Plus, Childish Gambino posts two new tracks on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales: “Summertime Magic” (No. 15; 7,000 in sales) and “Feels Like Summer” (No. 22; 5,000). Notably, the pair’s surprise July 11 release allowed for only one day of activity for the tracking week, which closed July 12.
“Magic” serves as the lead single for Gambino’s forthcoming fourth studio LP, his first with Wolf+Rothstein/RCA Records. His last album, "Awaken, My Love!," debuted at No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The set spun off the single “Redbone,” which climbed to No. 6 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
