So, will we finally see Led Zeppelin together again (sans John Bonham)?

Last year’s Desert Trip featured an impressive lineup. Held in Indio, California, the music festival featured performances from The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, and other top artists. Now, ahead Desert Trip 2017, a cryptic message posted on social media has fans hoping for a long-awaited Led Zeppelin reunion.

Fans visiting singer Robert Plant’s page will find the following cryptic message:

“Any time now…”

Of course, the teaser could mean just about anything. Maybe Plant will release an album any time now. After all, the last time Plant released was an album was on September 8, 2014, with his tenth solo album, Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar. He’s also worked extensively with his band, The Sensational Space Shifters. However, one website claims to have inside information into the true meaning Plant’s cryptic message.

According to Feel Numb’s Raul, Robert Plant has agreed to one final Led Zeppelin reunion, planned for Desert Trip 2017. The post reads,

“I have some well placed sources in the industry telling me that Robert Plant has agreed to reunite Led Zeppelin for Desert Trip 2017.  Rumor has it they turned down a reported $14 million dollar pay day to play at last years sic] festival and that this year there are “millions & millions” more reasons why they should do it.”

Guitarist and Led Zeppelin founder Jimmy Page has long wanted a reunion. Yet, he claims that Robert Plant has turned down the invitation each time.

So, why Robert’s sudden change heart? Raul explains,

“Sources tell me he has finally agreed to do it because the impending 50 year anniversary Led Zeppelin.”

If Feel Numb’s sources prove to be true, the surviving members Led Zeppelin would play in Desert Trip 2017. Living members include Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones. They could possibly reunite with late drummer John Bonham’s son, Jason, for one final concert.

The last time Plant, Page, Jones, and Bonham’s son, Jason, performed together was on December 10, 2007. They played at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert, held in memory music executive Ahmet Ertegun.

As writing, the only performances confirmed for Desert Trip 2017 are:

  • Eric Carmen
  • Terry Jacks
  • Starland Vocal Band

Desert Trip promoter Goldenvoice also told LA Weekly that this year’s event will feature tribute bands, a hologram David Bowie, and a special appearance by Foreigner.

Page, Plant, Jones, and Bonham’s son, Jason, have yet to comment on the news. However, if true, Led Zeppelin would boost an seemingly weak lineup confirmed performances.
